Free Stories & Chat, Plus A Writing Update. Jesus Saves

Free stories, plus more! :)

*In this post: 3 free micro stories with salvation and sanctification themes, plus chat and a writing update.*

Welcome!

A blessed 2024 to all of my readers. :) Welcome back to my blog: a little place of hope and encouragement. Here you will find a shelf full of free reads as well as links to all of my books. (I have self published a selection of inspirational stories as well as poetry and a couple of small devotionals on Amazon.) You can find all of the links here: My books

Please consider leaving a review on Amazon, or on the blog for those which are available here. Reviews really help by giving readers more confidence to purchase a book from an unknown author. Thanks so much. :)

Feel free to browse the blog for some encouragement today.

I have had a break from blogging, but not from creative writing this past month. If a new story impresses itself on my heart and mind, well, it has to be written, or typed, down. :)

Today, I'm posting three of those little stories, and I hope that they will be of help and encouragement. Please consider sharing them with friends and family.

I am also excited to share my new writing project with you. (Details below the stories.)

The blog:

We are going into a busy time now, what with school starting again soon. ( I still have two young ladies at home.) Writing must take a back seat to the Lord, and my husband, children, and homemaking in general. Along with this, God is laying a longer story on my heart one line at a time. I am praying that it will draw needy souls to Jesus, and bring encouragement to all who read it. As you can imagine, writing a longer story takes a considerable amount of time, so it is wise not to take on too many projects.

God willing, I will continue to post here regularly. I will be sharing what's on my heart as the Lord leads. A regular feature will be writing updates, where I will share my writing journey with you. I will be posting scenes from my story too.

Right now, and hopefully forever, I am in a place of daily surrender to Jesus. The flesh in me would like to tell you exactly what to expect and when to expect it, but in this place of surrender, I'll wait on the Holy Spirit's leading. I'd like to be open and real over here: basically; be myself, write what I'm good at writing, and hopefully encourage you along the way.

Only Jesus:

It seems to me that there is one recurring lesson and theme which keeps stirring in my heart and mind: and that is one of focus. We so often tell ourselves that we need to focus on this or that person/people or thing. Perhaps our children, our cooking and homemaking, or our husbands or careers. The truth is that we are seriously wrong to think in this way. Nothing and no one other than Jesus Christ should be our focus as Christians. All of our concerns will fall in line and come into their true focus when He is our one focus. If I want to be a great wife and mother, for example, there is only one way to achieve that: and that is by making Jesus my focus.

The Great Commision:

If Jesus is my focus, then His command to go into all the world to share the Gospel will become important to me too. And starting with my family, I will want to spread the Good News that Jesus saves.

How about you dear Reader? What is most important to you?

Will you choose Jesus today?

The Decision

"Just this once, Veronica." Estelle's serious nutmeg eyes had pleaded. "You'll do it for Mommy, won't you?"
"That's a bit under-handed don't you think?" Veronica shoved the tea caddy back into the cupboard, then stirred the tea vigorously.
"But you read the prayers in Mommy's journal." Estelle's voice trembled. "You have to. Please."

As Veronica, or Ronnie, as they all fondly called her, recalled the emotional yet deciding moment, she felt gratitude for her sister's stubborness.
She'd donned her best reluctantly, and had climbed into Estelle's car with even less enthusiasm. Yet now, she realized, that that particular church service, and the ones which had followed it, were part of the answer to Mommy's prayers.
And the surprising answer to her own: She was finally home.

Are you a "natural" worrier like Jake? Read on to find the solution.

Worry

"Worrying just seems to come naturally to me." Jake chuckled ruefully. "I admire the way you do life Bryan, but I don't get how you do it."
Bryan smiled easily as the two men left the sanctuary. "I can't take any credit, Jake. It's all the Lord's doing. I used to worry constantly about money."
Jake's eyebrows rose. "Really? How did you stop?"
Bryan shrugged but his smile was sincere. "It was a process. It took a while. Everyday it got a little easier to let go."
"Of what?" The men had reached Bryan's car. He nodded towards it. "The wheel, Jake. I had to let go of the wheel."

Clara says yes in this mini story.

Yes

"And you said yes?" Tina's eyes sparkled as they met her friend's. "That's so wonderful and special, Clara. She tried to keep her voice low. They were sitting in a coffee shop after all. Even so, one or two customers glanced at the two happy women who were obviously celebrating.
Clara's smile was serene."And it was the best decision I've ever made."
Tina leaned forward. The scent of two pastel coloured roses in the centre of the table matched her mood. "What did Tyler do?"
Clara laughed. "What do you think he did? He lifted me off my feet and kissed me."
Tina smiled gently. "He's been praying for you for years you know."
Clara nodded as the roses blurred before her eyes. "I know. But his prayers are answered now that I've said yes to Jesus."

Romance and inspiration in my new book

What I'm Currently Working On

I've started working on a fun writing project. (No fussing about word count or elaborate planning.) The story has been brewing in my mind for a while now, and it actually inspired the short story about Tirsa on the blog as well as the longer short story, After The Harvest."
Check them out Here and Here.

It's current name is The Searching. It's a bit hard to place this story in a particular genre. Although I am creating a world, there is no magic. However, there will be a supernatural aspect, so it might fit into the speculative fiction genre. The story contains romance and adventure as well as a thought-provoking message.

My aim is to write a story that will appeal to non-believers and believers alike. I'll be keeping you posted on my progress. :) Please keep my writing in your prayers. Here is a snippet from Chapter One:

"The young brown skinned woman made her way quickly to a copse of trees alongside the field. She savored the feel of coolness on her hot skin. Her steps slowed as she made her way through the small stand of trees. She allowed herself a deep breath then left the grove and began climbing the hill just beyond it. Her hill, as she often referred to it in the privacy of her thoughts. Her bare feet were sure and confident as she made her way along the winding path. Tirsa's long work dress brushed the grasses, and the wind played with her dark curls, as though it were inviting her to dance. But even here, in her favorite place, she had no peace."
