Three Poems For Homemakers

Three Poems For Homemakers There's something  about the  pottering, the dusting, the sweeping, arranging, cooking, baking,  decorating, That's so normal, so good: sharply juxtaposed against the backdrop  of a crazy world. here, I pray, I clean, I sing. Even though things are crazy in my own life, Calm settles with the dust motes and joy stirs in my cup *** This little home of mine, I'm going to help it shine: I'll try to keep it clean and neat, and offer callers food and seat The children I will teach and show the way to One Who loves them so And hopefully, the air will ring with joyful praise as voices sing I hope to give true hope and cheer to all who come through love and prayer O Lord, please help it shine so bright A homely lighthouse in the night. *** My list of chores  just grows and grows, along comes stress a well known foe The messes mount, the wash pile grows, now children fight and all peace goes It's time to slow right down I know, to rest, t...

A Few Poems.

View River   A Few Poems Never Alone Even if I where a lonely cloud wandering I would never really be alone for Jesus is in my heart and always will be. I love Him, you know. Not with a perfect love; not the way I want to. But I truly do love Him. Even if I were a solitary star glowing faintly, I would not be all alone: for the Great I Am is always with me. Even though I am unworthy, so unworthy, He is with me and He loves me so: with a holy, pure, eternal love. A love which I am only beginning to grow in, slow, o, so slowly. So here I am, a human being, alone in my me-ness; alone in my uniqueness, yet never alone. I am misunderstood, yet Jesus understands. Forgotten, yet remembered by the Lord. Swimming in my struggles yet held close, so close by Him. So yes, I may appear a lonesome sight; a woman wandering in her own world, silent and solitary, wrapped in her thoughts. Thoughts which He knows. Following a path He walks with me in a world which suddenly seems a great deal less lon...

Illustrated Inspirational Poems

Illustrated Inspirational Poems Dearest Readers, Here are a few poems from my poetry notebook. I hope you feel encouraged today. The world is so dark. Evil abounds. It is easy to feel discouraged and sad. How blessed we are to have Jesus! He is our joy. Do you know Him too? *** *** *** *** *** *** *** *** Copyright: pencil in His Hand Are you searching? Would you like to know more about Jesus? You may find my testimony helpful. (Just scroll down a little.) Testimony John 3:1-8, 10-21 ESV [1] Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. [2] This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” [3] Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” [4] Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” [5] J...

Inspirational Poetry

Photo: Aaron Burden. Unsplash Help me to remember Lord, set my thinking free Help me to remember Lord, I need to follow Thee Help me to become O Lord, all that I should be Help me to remember Lord, to help them follow Thee *** So many want Heaven: they want to be saved But they don't want a cross or the path You have paved *** Easy to say "I'm a Christian" you know Easy to put on a  fancy big show but not to fool God Who sees all you do So repent, turn from sin, be washed and made new *** Copyright: pencil in His Hand

Doubt Tossed. A Poem

Photo: Marcus Woodbridge. Unsplash Doubt Tossed Tossed and wavering to and fro on my boat as storm winds blow Now I'm in the valley next up high up and down 'neath threat'ning sky Enough! I must decide: choose this day leave all doubt rest in Him alway *** Copyright: Alison Lawrence

Two Inspirational Poems

Photo: Luca Upper. Unsplash Happy The secret of a happy life: must keep my eyes on You Place You at the centre of all I am and do Idols I'm dismantling the high places I'm smashing all the poles casting evil idols on the burning coals I cannot make them pretty give them place in my life for all they have to offer is dark, death, and strife My idols may be nice and even very good but I knock them from their places for they stand  where once You stood *** Copyright: Alison Lawrence

Some Inspirational Poems & A Garden Update

Walking Forward I go Going along slow jerkily I creep forward I'm moving to You *** Every small step a definite decision I will follow You *** Never looking back though Egypt looks so easy Your hand fast in mine *** Times I stop or fall You wait for me to obey gain a victory *** These four poems reflect the walk of a believer. Sometimes our progress may seem snail slow, but always, there is a forward movement, no matter how small. The believer may  stop, pause, falter, or even fall, but he or she does not turn around or go back to Egypt. (Pre- salvation life.)  Because of the constant love and presence of Jesus, the believer is able to keep going along the narrow trail. *** Garden Update There is not a huge amount going on in the garden at the moment. It has been pretty hot for March. I have sown some seeds though, including basil, eggplant, and pansies amongst others. So far, the usual compost tomatoes are coming up, along with a bean. As you can see from the photos, I...

Heatwaves, Struggles, and Memories in Poetry.

Heatwaves, Stuggles, and Memories in Poetry. Summer heat Heatwave A heatwave of circumstance, trial and trouble presses around me, threatens to  overwhelm. Intensifying heat absorbs all joy. I grumble, discontented, thirsty, drained. Then: I remember You: The living water, refreshing, cool, and sweet: I am flooded with Your peace: Eternal life is mine and all is well. Pauses are so needful.  Pause Things went all wrong today: forgot to pause, forgot  to pray. Now, I stop to  pause and pray, and cling to Jesus as I travel my way Warm day  Refreshment I miss my  mother's kindness on days like this: Days of  unmerciful  scorching heat. Those cups of Earl Gray tea beside the  airconditioner. May I too refresh others walking on life's trying, hot and dusty way. *** Copyright: Alison Lawrence Love and blessings 💜💜💜
