From My Journal

 From My Journal

I write in my journals on a daily basis. There is something soothing and healing about getting your thoughts down on old-fashioned paper.

"The Lord is like a strong tower, where the righteous can go and be safe."

(Proverbs 18:10)

I am being tested in my ability to cope with curve balls and upset routines. I think I did OK today. It wasn't  easy: I am so used to things being a certain way, and I am so timid and insecure at times. Thankfully, the Lord is my strong tower.

I am thankful.

"My grace is sufficient for you."

(2 Corinthians 12:9)

I noticed it now on the front cover of my journal. Most definitely what I need after this long, long day. And now, the gas ran out, and I'm trying to save S's birthday cake. Almost 11 pm, and I need my sleep. Shoo! But "My grace"....and all those precious folk I could share the Gospel with. And school went well despite having just one working computer.

I am grateful.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know. Remember the Lord in everything you do, and He will show you the right way."

(Proverbs 3: 5.6)

Trust God even when you cannot see.

Dearest Lord,

Thank You that I can trust You today and always.
Amen.

Love and blessings,
Keep shining!
Alison.

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story Dear Readers, Here is a gift from me to you. "The Searching" is a story which has been puttering around in my heart for awhile. It nearly didn't get written though, as I was a bit unsure as to whether I could get it to work. But God is faithful, and He gave me both the inspiration and the words. There were a few times when I nearly gave up, but now, I'm so glad that I didn't. It's one of my favourites, and I hope that you enjoy it too.  *** Previous cover The Searching: A Novella *** By Alison Lawrence *** Copyright Copyright owner: Alison Lawrence. 2024 All rights reserved. The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Free Longer Story

Inspirational fiction  The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Copyright: Alison Lawrence 2024. All rights reserved. *** Dedication: To all who are yearning for so much more. *** Chapter One (Author's note: Han is pronounced Hun.) It was only six o'clock in the morning, but Lidda could already feel it was going to be an unpleasantly hot day. She emptied her basket of cabbage scraps into the chicken coop, looking around for Han as she did so. He and his brother Vinny would have finished milking by now. No doubt they’d be in for breakfast soon. Lidda allowed herself a small sigh. She wasn't one to complain, but sometimes, the burden of her workload and of being a young wife rested very heavily on her shoulders. She entered the cool kitchen once more, and stirred the obligatory porridge before starting on the eggs. Her mind drifted quite naturally to Tirsa. Where are you dear one? How I wish you'd come back to us. Lidda missed her quirky free-thinking sist...

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update In this post: a mini inspirational story, a poem, plus what's up in my garden, and a blog and writing update . A sparrow, yet loved and counted. Photo: Ratanjot Singh.Unsplash. Little One The little one watches from her spot in the old apple tree. She peeks through the canopy of bright green leaves and ruby globes. She watches while resting in shady, cool, calm. She stares at the rushing, busy, blurry people. Where are they going? Why so rushed? People of all sizes and styles, yet all with the same harried, frazzled, furrowed frowns. She cocks her head, then fluffs her feathers: just a little sparrow, yet loved, fed, and counted. While people rush and worry, she lives, and breathes, and feeds, and flies; before she falls, and softly dies.  In Him. *** End of Self Now at end of self, decided: Give my all to You. Lay down each rock, and burden, sin: and start each day anew. *** Garden Glimpses January here in the southern...
