How Can I Become A Christian?

Dearest Reader,

I am very glad that you are asking this question. And If you are not, I pray that you will.

I will, with God's help do my best to answer it.

Becoming a Christian, or as I like to say, a Jesus' follower, is not about joining a religion, or becoming a religious person.

No, it is all about relationship, about becoming a member of God's family.

No one can force their way into God's family or into Heaven. Many have tried to do this by observing the Law or by doing good works. But as Romans 3:23 tells us, we have all sinned. No one is good. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour.

Now for the Good News!
Jesus is God. And He is good. He offers us the free gift of salvation. He achieved this by taking on human flesh, and dying on the cross. It was there, during that agonizing death that He took all of our sin on Himself. His blood was shed at the cross as a payment for our sin. Basically, Jesus took the punishment we should have had on Himself. He was able to do this as the pure Lamb of God.

So now, along with many others, you may ask, how can I be saved?

Become as a child. Humble yourself, repent of your sin, and trust in Jesus and His blood, His death to save You.

Pray simply and from your heart. Cry out to Him to save you. He delights to save all who come.

Now, you may be saying, but what if I don't believe? I am an agnostic or an atheist, or I follow another religion. I was in the same situation, so I know what you should do. You must still cry out to God. Ask Him to help you believe. He will help you.

Here are some Scriptures from the Book of John. The Bible is key if you want to learn about becoming a Christian. But please don't stop at these verses. Read the whole of the Book of John. After that, read the whole New Testament, starting at the Book of Matthew.  Once you have read to the end of the New Testament , start reading again at the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. You will see that Jesus is there too.

John 3:16-18 ESV
[16] “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

John 3:1-3 ESV
[1] Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. [2] This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” [3] Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Let us pray.

Dearest Jesus,

Thank you for each dear person who has visited today. Thank you for each searching heart.

Please help each one to know you; to be saved. Please help those who are struggling and doubting to believe. Please help us all to see that no religion, church, or good deeds can save us, but only You, and Your precious blood.

Thank You for the cross. Thank You for it's saving power. May we all put our trust in You.

Father, as we see all the terrible suffering in Israel and the world, we struggle to understand. But we know that You weep too. We know that You are mighty and powerful to save and make all things good and right. As we live in these End Times, we know that You have a plan.

We also know, that through Your Son Jesus, you make a way for all to be saved. And we thank You.

Please help people everywhere to cry out to You. People in Israel: soldiers, the hostages, ordinary people, the suffering, the bereaved. Please rescue and save them.

Father, there are people running from huge storms and catastrophes. People running from war, missiles, bombs. Please shelter them. Help them to cry out to You today. Please send them miracles, wherever they are.

Thank You for Your precious and wonderful plan of salvation.

Thank You for the hope You offer this dying world, and thank You Jesus for Your soon return.

We pray in Your precious, holy Name,
Amen.

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story Dear Readers, Here is a gift from me to you. "The Searching" is a story which has been puttering around in my heart for awhile. It nearly didn't get written though, as I was a bit unsure as to whether I could get it to work. But God is faithful, and He gave me both the inspiration and the words. There were a few times when I nearly gave up, but now, I'm so glad that I didn't. It's one of my favourites, and I hope that you enjoy it too.  *** Previous cover The Searching: A Novella *** By Alison Lawrence *** Copyright Copyright owner: Alison Lawrence. 2024 All rights reserved. The Conversation. A Free Short Story

The Conversation  Gavin was so absorbed in his book, that he barely noticed that the train had stopped at a station. "Mind if I sit here?" He looked up. A young woman with friendly freckles across her nose and wide brown eyes stood in the aisle. He nodded, then smiled faintly and she quickly stowed her large backpack. "I'm Sybil." The young woman offered. "Thanks." "No problem. Travelling to Barton?"  "Nope. It's Dunmore I'm headed for. You?" "Same." Gavin was cautious. He wasn't sure he felt like a chatty companion. He'd been looking forward to finishing his book. It had hooked him from the first chapter. But thankfully, Sybil didn't bubble on. She just smiled before taking her own book out.  Gavin went back to his reading, not without noticing that it was a Bible that Sybil had opened. Unusual.   Sybil glanced towards him. She liked to study people, and would often strike up a conversation in the ho...

Too Much. Thoughts of a Mom

Too Much Dear Reader, So often, I have felt this way: that I simply cannot make it. The burdens have grown too heavy. The pain is too great. The disappointment too crushing. It seems like every morning I take some time to feel very sorry for myself. No. I simply do not have the strength for anything. Perhaps staying in bed would be a good idea. But then, I remember. He has reminded me many times. "Give each load you carry to Me. Put it in a basket and float it on the Nile. Bring it to the strong tower. It will be safe with Me. Place it on the Rock which cannot move. Lay your burdens at the foot of the cross. Lay them in My arms." Yes, Lord. I will . "Good." And then another whisper: "Just one day, child. Just one step at a time." Yes, Lord, I can do that with You at my side, holding my hand. But Lord, what about tommorow? "Don't worry, child. We will do this again each morning. And you will make it. One day at a time." *** Matthew 11:28. ...
