How Can I Become A Christian?

Dearest Reader,

I am very glad that you are asking this question. And If you are not, I pray that you will.

I will, with God's help do my best to answer it.

Becoming a Christian, or as I like to say, a Jesus' follower, is not about joining a religion, or becoming a religious person.

No, it is all about relationship, about becoming a member of God's family.

No one can force their way into God's family or into Heaven. Many have tried to do this by observing the Law or by doing good works. But as Romans 3:23 tells us, we have all sinned. No one is good. We are all sinners in need of a Saviour.

Now for the Good News!
Jesus is God. And He is good. He offers us the free gift of salvation. He achieved this by taking on human flesh, and dying on the cross. It was there, during that agonizing death that He took all of our sin on Himself. His blood was shed at the cross as a payment for our sin. Basically, Jesus took the punishment we should have had on Himself. He was able to do this as the pure Lamb of God.

So now, along with many others, you may ask, how can I be saved?

Become as a child. Humble yourself, repent of your sin, and trust in Jesus and His blood, His death to save You.

Pray simply and from your heart. Cry out to Him to save you. He delights to save all who come.

Now, you may be saying, but what if I don't believe? I am an agnostic or an atheist, or I follow another religion. I was in the same situation, so I know what you should do. You must still cry out to God. Ask Him to help you believe. He will help you.

Here are some Scriptures from the Book of John. The Bible is key if you want to learn about becoming a Christian. But please don't stop at these verses. Read the whole of the Book of John. After that, read the whole New Testament, starting at the Book of Matthew.  Once you have read to the end of the New Testament , start reading again at the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. You will see that Jesus is there too.

John 3:16-18 ESV
[16] “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. [18] Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

John 3:1-3 ESV
[1] Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. [2] This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” [3] Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”

Let us pray.

Dearest Jesus,

Thank you for each dear person who has visited today. Thank you for each searching heart.

Please help each one to know you; to be saved. Please help those who are struggling and doubting to believe. Please help us all to see that no religion, church, or good deeds can save us, but only You, and Your precious blood.

Thank You for the cross. Thank You for it's saving power. May we all put our trust in You.

Father, as we see all the terrible suffering in Israel and the world, we struggle to understand. But we know that You weep too. We know that You are mighty and powerful to save and make all things good and right. As we live in these End Times, we know that You have a plan.

We also know, that through Your Son Jesus, you make a way for all to be saved. And we thank You.

Please help people everywhere to cry out to You. People in Israel: soldiers, the hostages, ordinary people, the suffering, the bereaved. Please rescue and save them.

Father, there are people running from huge storms and catastrophes. People running from war, missiles, bombs. Please shelter them. Help them to cry out to You today. Please send them miracles, wherever they are.

Thank You for Your precious and wonderful plan of salvation.

Thank You for the hope You offer this dying world, and thank You Jesus for Your soon return.

We pray in Your precious, holy Name,
Amen.

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story Dear Readers, Here is a gift from me to you. "The Searching" is a story which has been puttering around in my heart for awhile. It nearly didn't get written though, as I was a bit unsure as to whether I could get it to work. But God is faithful, and He gave me both the inspiration and the words. There were a few times when I nearly gave up, but now, I'm so glad that I didn't. It's one of my favourites, and I hope that you enjoy it too.  *** Previous cover The Searching: A Novella *** By Alison Lawrence *** Copyright Copyright owner: Alison Lawrence. 2024 All rights reserved.   Inspirational fiction  The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Copyright: Alison Lawrence 2024. All rights reserved. *** Dedication: To all who are yearning for so much more. *** Chapter One (Author's note: Han is pronounced Hun.) It was only six o'clock in the morning, but Lidda could already feel it was going to be an unpleasantly hot day. She emptied her basket of cabbage scraps into the chicken coop, looking around for Han as she did so. He and his brother Vinny would have finished milking by now. No doubt they’d be in for breakfast soon. Lidda allowed herself a small sigh. She wasn't one to complain, but sometimes, the burden of her workload and of being a young wife rested very heavily on her shoulders. She entered the cool kitchen once more, and stirred the obligatory porridge before starting on the eggs. Her mind drifted quite naturally to Tirsa. Where are you dear one? How I wish you'd come back to us. Lidda missed her quirky free-thinking sist...

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update In this post: a mini inspirational story, a poem, plus what's up in my garden, and a blog and writing update . A sparrow, yet loved and counted. Photo: Ratanjot Singh.Unsplash. Little One The little one watches from her spot in the old apple tree. She peeks through the canopy of bright green leaves and ruby globes. She watches while resting in shady, cool, calm. She stares at the rushing, busy, blurry people. Where are they going? Why so rushed? People of all sizes and styles, yet all with the same harried, frazzled, furrowed frowns. She cocks her head, then fluffs her feathers: just a little sparrow, yet loved, fed, and counted. While people rush and worry, she lives, and breathes, and feeds, and flies; before she falls, and softly dies.  In Him. *** End of Self Now at end of self, decided: Give my all to You. Lay down each rock, and burden, sin: and start each day anew. *** Garden Glimpses January here in the southern...
