Hope Blooms. A Poetry Selection

Hope Blooms

Hope Blooms

A Poetry Collection by Alison Lawrence.

Introduction

This collection is all about hope and healing. And yes, there is joy too. Even in the fire, hope can bloom if you let Jesus comfort you. There will be splashes of joy, and hope will never fade.

Hope Blooms

His peace and love will reign

where missiles brutal fell

As Zion blooms again

and Jesus makes all well

***

Garlands

Garlands of bright sunshine

decorate my gate:

Gentle, happy faces,

His love now radiate

***

Hiding Place

As troubles now surround us,

the way before is clear:

I know that You will hide us;

there is no need to fear.

For when the skies grow darker still:

You'll draw us to Your side;

Through the clouds we'll fly away:

to Your sweet love we'll ride

***

Pray!

So many people need our prayers:

They need to feel that someone cares

They need to know Lord Jesus too,

be healed and drawn, be made brand new

I think of all the suffering ones,

held hostage, hurt by men with guns

Some are being unfairly kept,

marched away whilst mothers wept

all while hungry children groan:

we see their tears, we hear their moans

our hearts sink low with their despair,

we trust that Jesus truly cares

and though we live so far away,

He calls us daily, come now, pray!

Listen, for He calls soon, go!

Share the Gospel, ease their woe!

Never ceasing in our prayers,

take all to Him, the One who cares.

Putting on the Brakes

I'm slowing down

breathing,

stopping,

Long enough to say

Thank You

I'm putting on

the brakes:

walking

not jogging

resting

not scrolling

Long enough to say

Here I am:

send me

***

Happy

Happy day! Oh Happy day!

I go along, I sing, I pray

Working, working, all day long

It's He who makes me joyful, strong

***

Message

Here's a little song

Just a few lines long

It's only purpose is to say:

My Jesus lives, He is the Way!

***

Go!

No Time

No time, no time

no time at all

Only today:

so give Him your all

***

How Beautiful the Feet

See the lost people

battered, hopeless, bruised

feet of beauty, go!

***

Calling

Help me to see Lord

help me to see

the bruised and the broken

waiting for me

to bring them the Gospel

that saves and sets free

***

Garden Haiku

A simple garden

common veg and hardy blooms

peace pools in the sun

***

Blissful Afternoon

The afternoon

drops slowly down

with books

and Scripture

tea and crafts:

I nestle in the Son

***

Surrounded

I'm surrounded by

so many things, pass times, stuff

all I need is You

***

Flower Field

They sparkle in the sunshine,

bright faces yellow and white

simple pleasures on their own

yet en masse an awesome sight

***

Soon!

Everywhere we look

mounting madness wars despair

Look! The Saviour's near!

***

Cozy Day

There's bread in the oven,

hot water for tea;

there's hope in my heart,

for my Saviour loves me

***

Come

Have you seen the Lord?

met Him face to face?

Salvation now for all,

Who'll come and grasp the cross

not only for just Moses,

but for all who know they're lost

***

Sparkling

Bright mercies, blessings, from above

with Jesus’ love do shine

some for me in Heaven wait

from Father's heart are mine

***

The Missile And The Rose

The missile and the rose

so harshly juxtaposed

shout a message loud and clear

to enemies and foes

For in a field so bright

an evil, hateful, sight

as blooms raise fragile, hopeful, heads

men crush, and maim, and fight

***

Reaching

Father, I'm reaching,

reaching for You

awaiting Your answer:

make me brand new

***

God Of The Book

The God of the Book

is the God for me

I trust Him, I love Him

He is all He should be

***

Pointless

Building barns and storing stuff:

When will it ever be enough?

Best to see before too late:

No stuff can pass through Heaven’s gate.

***

Discovery

Where the fire has torn through

leaving my smoldering pain

that's where hope blooms

***

Promise

Hope shelters in my heart

A promise in the rain

***

Apple Tree

Now hope blossoms

tentative, true

frail pastel grace

against stark gray

tinged with sadness

yet whispers loud

of bright new day

***

Hiding Place

When I hide in this place

I'm not hiding without hope

for this place is You

***

Morning Web

Most days swept away

now stringed with opal splendour

hope shines in the dew

***

Meeting Place

Hope is that place

where Jesus joy

and sorrows meet:

Where trust breaks

through the snow

***

Undying

Hope lies battered,

bruised.

Once bright petals

ragged, torn.

Yet only for a moment

she sleeps as though now gone:

'Til His tender breath

revives dear Hope again

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story Dear Readers, Here is a gift from me to you. "The Searching" is a story which has been puttering around in my heart for awhile. It nearly didn't get written though, as I was a bit unsure as to whether I could get it to work. But God is faithful, and He gave me both the inspiration and the words. There were a few times when I nearly gave up, but now, I'm so glad that I didn't. It's one of my favourites, and I hope that you enjoy it too.  *** Previous cover The Searching: A Novella *** By Alison Lawrence *** Copyright Copyright owner: Alison Lawrence. 2024 All rights reserved. The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Free Longer Story

Inspirational fiction  The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Copyright: Alison Lawrence 2024. All rights reserved. *** Dedication: To all who are yearning for so much more. *** Chapter One (Author's note: Han is pronounced Hun.) It was only six o'clock in the morning, but Lidda could already feel it was going to be an unpleasantly hot day. She emptied her basket of cabbage scraps into the chicken coop, looking around for Han as she did so. He and his brother Vinny would have finished milking by now. No doubt they’d be in for breakfast soon. Lidda allowed herself a small sigh. She wasn't one to complain, but sometimes, the burden of her workload and of being a young wife rested very heavily on her shoulders. She entered the cool kitchen once more, and stirred the obligatory porridge before starting on the eggs. Her mind drifted quite naturally to Tirsa. Where are you dear one? How I wish you'd come back to us. Lidda missed her quirky free-thinking sist...

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update

Flash Fiction, A Poem, Garden Glimpses, & an Update In this post: a mini inspirational story, a poem, plus what's up in my garden, and a blog and writing update . A sparrow, yet loved and counted. Photo: Ratanjot Singh.Unsplash. Little One The little one watches from her spot in the old apple tree. She peeks through the canopy of bright green leaves and ruby globes. She watches while resting in shady, cool, calm. She stares at the rushing, busy, blurry people. Where are they going? Why so rushed? People of all sizes and styles, yet all with the same harried, frazzled, furrowed frowns. She cocks her head, then fluffs her feathers: just a little sparrow, yet loved, fed, and counted. While people rush and worry, she lives, and breathes, and feeds, and flies; before she falls, and softly dies.  In Him. *** End of Self Now at end of self, decided: Give my all to You. Lay down each rock, and burden, sin: and start each day anew. *** Garden Glimpses January here in the southern...
