October Round Up.

 October Round Up

Especially for you: Some inspiration and encouragement for the month of October.

Wonderful God

My burden is safely in Your care;

The God of salvation,

so good and fair.

He blesses and helps us

through each new day,

driving our enemy out of the way.

Rock

May I run to The Rock

throughout the day;

A stronghold and Tower is He.

May my praises ring,

as I cling to Him:

The Saviour Who loves and sets free.

The Addict

The young man sat down on one of the last peacock blue plastic chairs. The rough circle was nearly complete.
"Shall we begin?" A middle aged woman wearing flamingo lipstick and a dress to match, enquired.
She smiled broadly at the woman to her left, and the introductions began.
"I'm Jozi, and I'm an addict..."
Finally, it was the young man's turn.
"Hi." His voice trembled slightly, but then, he sat up straighter, and managed eye contact with the flamingo.
"I'm Kyle, and I'm an addict. I open my phone throughout the day, but I never get round to reading my Bible..."

Betrothed

She knew he would fetch her soon; she'd been marking off the days on a rough calendar.
But it was the promise he'd made that calmed her heart and steadied her hands. He would come.
Carefully, she retrieved the exquisite ivory, embroidered gown from the chest. Then, after hanging it up out of harm's way, she bathed, and washed her raven hair. She applied scented oil in jubilant ceremony, and her heart sang, as finally, she donned her wedding garment.
She was ready!
Her final preparation was to light the lamp and place it in her window.
She took her place alongside its steady glow and tuned her ears to the sounds of the night.
When his joyous call sounded, she arose and ran to meet him, her long wait replaced by a forever embrace.

Scripture inspiration:

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep. For this we declare to you by a word from the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. Therefore encourage one another with these words.”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ESV
