Anchor. A Poem

Anchor If you keep your focus on Him through the day, If you stop what you're doing, and simply pray: If you practice His Presence through the chores and din, He'll remain your anchor through thick and thin. *** Copyright: Alison Lawrence *** Love and prayers❤️🙏🤗 ***

A Change Of Heart. A Free Love Story

A Change Of Heart A free love story by Alison Lawrence Kelsey nearly over-mixed the muffin batter as her thoughts whirled along with the wooden spoon. One thought was short and to the point. What would Logan say? Other thoughts followed soon behind. She'd been putting it off for so long. Putting him off. Was it too late? The muffins, cappuccino and chocolate, a favourite of Logan's were a kind of peace offering. She'd only know whether they'd help at all when he came over later. Kelsey focused for the moment on the task at hand, green eyes serious as she filled the muffin tray then placed it in the oven. Once that was done, she grabbed her phone and scanned it quickly. Just a quick note from Logan assuring her he'd be coming over. She sent a quick smiley face back, not wanting to over-do things. The compact kitchen was back to normal again in a few minutes. Kelsey scanned it, along with the rest of her apartment, before giving it a mental thumbs up. Then, leaving ...

Poems, Photos, and a Glimpse of my Garden.

Poems, Photos and a Glimpse of my Garden Rest of soul and peace of mind are hard for you  and me to find: Until we rest our  hearts in God; strength will falter, days grow hard A new day to pray, to love and give, A new day to serve, to work and praise, A new day to soak in Your precious peace I wish I could go back to all the happy days: to hold on to those moments, and sing a song of praise. Love and kindness I would bring, and serve the Lord much more. I truly wish it could be done through an old and hidden door. But since I cannot go back, to those sweet and bygone days, I'll give to Jesus all my heart so He can change my un-nice ways *** Copyright: pencil in His Hand *** St John's creeper New growth. Why Do We Make A Home? Thoughts Of A Mom.

Why Do We "Make A Home?" Titus 2:3-5 ESV [3] Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, [4] and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, [5] to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.  https://bible.com/bible/59/tit.2.3-5.ESV Dearest Reader, Why, I wonder, do we make a home, besides the obvious reasons? Is it to have fun with hobbies and decorating? To show off its beauty and tasteful decor? Or, perhaps, more nobly, to provide a space where learning and rest and relaxation can take place?  Why do we homemakers dust and tidy, cook and bake, de-clutter and scrub? Why do we show up day after day to help, train, and feed? What importance does having an inviting home have? Well, I should think that the most important reason is given to us here in Titus. When we as women take up our noble ...

Blessings. A Poem

Blessings A privilege to make the tea; I get to make some bread. A blessing to stand at my sink: my loved ones have been fed A happiness to dust and clean; I get to make the bed. A blessing to walk with my Lord: I could be lost instead. *** Copyright: pencil in His Hand *** With love, hugs, and prayers. ❤️🤗🙏

Seeds of Patience. Thoughts of a Mom

My seed box Seeds of Patience Dearest Reader, March is now nearing an end, but it is still a great time for sowing seeds here in the Southern hemisphere. The very hot weather is behind us, and it is time to start on autumn and winter crops. I was very excited for March to arrive, and had been getting my containers ready through the summer. I love the thought of cooler days, rain showers and lush green growth, though I could do without the snails! So, with my goal in mind, I soon got busy. I sowed swiss chard, carrot, spring onion, radish, cabbage, pansy, coriander, and sweet pea seed. Then just today, I added some calendula and mixed herbs to the mix. Exciting times.😊 But then, one realises, comes the hard part. Waiting. It generally takes about two weeks to see some action from the seeds you sowed. Also, seeds need to be kept moist, so there's quite a bit of work involved. I try to keep the end goal in sight and not get too hung up on time, but it's hard. Many times I have ...

Mini Stories of Hope. The Doily

The Doily. Free Flash Fiction I selected the smallest crochet hook in my collection and observed it dubiously. It was as impossibly fine as the peacock blue crochet cotton in my hand. There was only one thing the cotton was good for: an old-fashioned doily. The kind that looks like a delicate and intricate spider's web. Impractical, yet fascinating.  I had a pattern. I had the right hook, and the right thread. But could I do it? My hands stiffened involuntarily at the thought of the cramping they would have to endure. All for a rather pointless item. Despite my doubts, I began. Somehow, several little rounds of chains and stitches formed between my fingers. The brilliant blue shone. My crochet hook flashed. I smiled. For the first time in days. And somehow, the delicate project became a symbol of fragile yet enduring hope. My faith and my joy seemed just as fragile as the thread between my fingers. Until I remembered how strong my hope really was: that no matter how dark thi...
