From My Journal

From My Journal I write in my journals on a daily basis. There is something soothing and healing about getting your thoughts down on old-fashioned paper. *** 16 January 2024 "The Lord is like a strong tower, where the righteous can go and be safe." (Proverbs 18:10) I am being tested in my ability to cope with curve balls and upset routines. I think I did OK today. It wasn't  easy: I am so used to things being a certain way, and I am so timid and insecure at times. Thankfully, the Lord is my strong tower. I am thankful. *** 17 January 2024 "My grace is sufficient for you." (2 Corinthians 12:9) I noticed it now on the front cover of my journal. Most definitely what I need after this long, long day. And now, the gas ran out, and I'm trying to save S's birthday cake. Almost 11 pm, and I need my sleep. Shoo! But "My grace"....and all those precious folk I could share the Gospel with. And school went well despite having just one working computer. I ...

Cassie's Calling: Flash Fiction. Free Coffee Break Read.

Cassie's Calling: Flash Fiction My Mom, Averil Foxcroft and I The proud mother strapped her little one into the stroller, then tucked a baby blue blanket around her. They were all set for a walk around the sun-bathed garden. Baby wore a cute sun hat as well as a bib for any unexpected mishaps. Cassie made a slow circuit around the swimming pool, being careful to dodge any bumps as well as Arthur the cat with his proud stare and Tessie, the white bull terrier, with her understanding doggie smile. “No, Tessie. Don’t come too close. Baby is sleeping. No doggie kisses either. You can walk along with us if you want to though.” The faithful pet happily agreed and walked beside the pram as Cassie did another lap around the pool. When Arthur placed an exploratory paw on the blanket, Tessie nosed him out of the way and was rewarded with a “good dog!” by the little mother.  When Cassie had determined that her infant had absorbed enough sunshine for the day, she headed back to the hous...

A New Blogging Season, Plus Latest Poems.

A New Blogging Season Plus Latest Poems. Summer day at the river Dear Readers, If you read   The Searching,  you may have also noticed my note about the need to blog less frequently due to time restraints. Now, although I don't have a great deal of writing time, I do enjoy a little writing in the afternoons. With this in mind, I plan to post shorter blog posts containing whatever the Lord places on my heart. I envision the blog being like an online journal of sorts, and I am hoping that it will be a blessing to you, my readers, as well as to my children some day. Although I won't be posting private details, I will be posting sincere musings from my heart, including poems and flash fiction. As for publishing, I have slowed down a great deal in that area. I had a large amount of content which I wanted to self-publish. This goal has been achieved, with the result that I now have a nice variety of books available. God willing, I will continue with the self-publishing ro...

Two Free Short Stories, & Poems From My Heart

Two Free Short Stories & Poems From My Heart *** Coffee break reads * In this post: one sanctification, and one salvation story, as well as a few poems to inpire you.* Sanctification Story: Alissa There was one thing that Alissa knew with intense certainty: she couldn't go on this way any longer. Everything was falling apart and she had no idea how to fix it. The weird thing was, her days started out fine. She'd wake early, make herself a cup of coffee, and enjoy a good, long, quiet time, complete with Bible reading and prayer journalling. She'd sit in the soft, gentle stillness and just savour the peace. The problem was, it didn't last. As soon as she stood up, the demands of her day would assail her, and she never slowed down again until she fell exhausted into bed.  The quiet peacefulness of the morning always disapeared the way mist vanishes as the sun makes its appearance. Alissa sighed and raised the volume on her phone so she could hear her podcast better. ...

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story

The Searching: A Free Inspirational Story Dear Readers, Here is a gift from me to you. "The Searching" is a story which has been puttering around in my heart for awhile. It nearly didn't get written though, as I was a bit unsure as to whether I could get it to work. But God is faithful, and He gave me both the inspiration and the words. There were a few times when I nearly gave up, but now, I'm so glad that I didn't. It's one of my favourites, and I hope that you enjoy it too.  *** Previous cover The Searching: A Novella *** By Alison Lawrence *** Copyright Copyright owner: Alison Lawrence. 2024 All rights reserved.
