Writing for the Lord. Plus a Couple of Poems & News!

Fishing boat at the river Writing for the Lord ‭Colossians 3:23-24 ESV‬ [23] Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, [24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.  https://bible.com/bible/59/col.3.23-24.ESV Dearest Readers, This post will contain my thoughts on writing, but this really applies to all we do. :) When I first started writing more seriously, I believe my heart was right. I truly wanted to encourage people and to share the Gospel through my writing. With much help from God, I wrote my heart out. I wrote with passion. For Him. There was really no thought of financial success. I did imagine possibly receiving a few donations, but that was all. I made the books available for free, but wasn't able to reach many people. After a while, I stopped writing. I was busy. It wasn't too long though, before I picked up my pen once more to write poetry, and later, short stories. At that...

The Garden Helpers. A Free Children's Story

A story to read to your children :) The Garden Helpers By Alison Lawrence Denny, Daisy, and Digger grabbed some clover, and pulled and pulled. The clover came out of the ground, and they all landed with a thump on their bottoms. "Ouch!" Said Daisy, but she wasn't really sore. Denny, Daisy, and Digger, were very small, but they were strong little garden folk. They loved to help Mom to grow good things to eat. They also helped the pretty flowers to sparkle and shine. They were careful not to let Mom see them as they did their work. "I like the way God made flowers." Said Denny as he gave a thirsty sweetpea some water. Mom was weeding the flower bed. She looked hot and tired. There were a lot of weeds. Too many weeds for Mom and the Garden Helpers to pull out. "Mia and Toby should help Mom in the garden." Said Digger crossly. "Yes," said Daisy sadly, "but they are always playing computer games and watching videos." "We need to g...

"Waiting." A Free End-Times Story. Now available as a PDF

Waiting: A Free Pdf Waiting. A Free PDF Our church is hosting a series of teaching on Jesus' return this month, so it seems fitting that "Waiting" should be made available for free. I wrote this short story quite some time ago, but it is still one of my favourites. In it , you will be taken to Bible times, and to a Jewish style betrothal. Beulah is the radiant bride, and she is a picture of the church. Her bridegroom reminds us of Jesus who is our Heavenly Bridegroom. I wrote this sweet romantic story to remind Christians of our Blessed Hope and to encourage them. The same is true for the story today. May you be encouraged and filled with hope as you read it. You may download "Waiting"  here . While visiting my Weebly Bookshelf blog, you may like to check out the other pdf's which I have made available there.  Link: If you enjoy "Waiting," please share the link with friends and family. With love and prayers, Alison 💖🙏🤗

A Messy Bookshelf

Books💖 The Messy Bookshelf Not long after waking up this morning, a random thought popped into my head that I really ought to tidy up the blog a bit. I'm pretty happy with my cozy blog. I try to make it a comfortable reading nook for all who stop by. Yet I began to wonder whether it had become a bit messy.  I have to admit that a couple of my pages. or should I call them shelves? are rather muddled. Free books are mixed in with books to buy, and there are links to two other bookshelf blogs, random photos, and mini stories. So the thought crossed my mind that I should do some spring cleaning. It would take time and hard work, but the blog would look all neat and tidy afterwards. But then I realized, doing so might make it a little less cozy and a little less real. The way I see it, is that the blog is rather like a box or shelf of books that one rummages around in until you find something you like. I love going to the library. Our one has a box of free books near the do...

The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Free Longer Story

Inspirational fiction  The Yearning: The Sequel to "The Searching." Copyright: Alison Lawrence 2024. All rights reserved. *** Dedication: To all who are yearning for so much more. *** Chapter One (Author's note: Han is pronounced Hun.) It was only six o'clock in the morning, but Lidda could already feel it was going to be an unpleasantly hot day. She emptied her basket of cabbage scraps into the chicken coop, looking around for Han as she did so. He and his brother Vinny would have finished milking by now. No doubt they’d be in for breakfast soon. Lidda allowed herself a small sigh. She wasn't one to complain, but sometimes, the burden of her workload and of being a young wife rested very heavily on her shoulders. She entered the cool kitchen once more, and stirred the obligatory porridge before starting on the eggs. Her mind drifted quite naturally to Tirsa. Where are you dear one? How I wish you'd come back to us. Lidda missed her quirky free-thinking sist...
